AI Crypto Liquidity Research: How to Check Timestamps Before Trusting the Answer
Order-book liquidity changes second by second. An AI liquidity answer without precise snapshot times is describing a book that no longer exists.
Short answer
Before trusting an AI liquidity answer, require the time of each order-book snapshot (to the second), the depth limit requested, the venue and contract, and whether snapshots were taken during calm or volatile periods. Depth can vanish before moves, so one old snapshot can badly misstate slippage. Ask for several timestamped snapshots and the time of the slippage estimate.
Timestamps the answer must carry
| Value | Timestamp to require | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Book snapshot | Time to the second | Depth changes fast |
| Depth limit | Levels requested | Visible range |
| Venue/contract | Named | Different books |
| Slippage estimate | Snapshot used | Validity |
Checks before trusting it
Worked example
Illustrative: the AI quoted depth from an 11:00 snapshot; after news at 11:20, depth within 0.5% fell to a quarter. A slippage estimate from the old snapshot was four times too optimistic.
