AI Crypto News Research: Trace the Conclusion Back to the Tool Results
News conclusions rest on articles and their times. Each claim should trace to a source the assistant actually retrieved, with publication time.
Short answer
To verify AI news research, find each claim in a retrieved source, note whether it's primary or secondary, check the publication time, and compare with the price window cited. Claims that appear in no retrieved source, or causal links where price moved before publication, are unsupported. Paraphrases that strengthen hedged reporting ('may' → 'will') are a common distortion.
From claim to tool call
| Claim in the answer | Tool result that must support it | Check |
|---|---|---|
| 'Exchange confirmed listing' | Primary announcement | Retrieved? |
| 'Price rose on the news' | Publication time vs price | Order? |
| 'Regulator plans X' | Source wording | Hedged? |
| 'Widely reported' | Sources list | How many? |
Common mismatches
- No primary source
- Price moved before publication
- Hedged language strengthened
- Unretrieved sources cited
Worked trace
Illustrative: the source was real, but the rally began 38 minutes before publication. The causal claim didn't survive the trace.
