AI Crypto Open-Interest Analysis: How to Check Timestamps Before Trusting the Answer
Open-interest statistics are period snapshots, and some periods are omitted. An AI answer about OI change must say which periods it compared.
Short answer
Before trusting an AI open-interest answer, require the period timestamps compared (start and end), the unit (coins or USD), the venue, and the fetch time. Binance's OI statistics omit periods with no trades and cover about the last month, so a 'change over 24h' may skip gaps. Compare the stated periods with price over the same times. Reject OI changes given without both endpoints' timestamps.
Timestamps the answer must carry
| Value | Timestamp to require | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Start period | Timestamp | Baseline |
| End period | Timestamp | Latest value |
| Unit | Coins or USD | Price effect |
| Omitted periods | Count | Gaps |
Checks before trusting it
Worked example
Illustrative: the AI said 'OI up 8% in 24 hours', but its end period was five hours old and the start was 21 hours earlier. The stated window wasn't 24 hours, and it missed a drop since.
