Binance Funding History: Event Time vs Retrieval Time

Funding history records fundingTime — when each rate settled. Predicted rates read before settlement have no such time unless you record it.

Short answer

Binance's funding history returns fundingRate, fundingTime, markPrice and rateType per settlement, ascending, with the most recent 200 by default. fundingTime is the event time. The premium index endpoint reports lastFundingRate and nextFundingTime for the current period — a forecast until settlement. Keep settled history and live readings separate, and store retrieval time for live readings.

Illustrative: a dataset mixes hourly live reads and 8-hour settlements under one 'time' column; charted together, they look like a jumpy funding series that never existed.

Field definitions come from DEX Screener's API reference and CoinGecko's onchain API documentation, read 17 October 2026. Where a schema doesn't document a timestamp, this guide says so and recommends recording retrieval time yourself.
