ChartsPod CVD Reset: Match Your Session Before Reading Divergence
Cumulative delta compares buying and selling aggression over time. Where it starts counting decides what a 'divergence' means.
Short answer
Before reading CVD divergence in ChartsPod, set the reset (anchor) point to match the session or event you are analysing, keep both price swings inside one reset window, and confirm CVD is calculated on the same venue and contract as the price chart. A divergence spanning a reset compares two unrelated running totals. ChartsPod lists cumulative delta among its order-flow tools and the indicator can be opened directly in the terminal.
Why reset matters
| Reset choice | Use for |
|---|---|
| Daily (clock time) | Session-to-session comparison |
| Event anchor | A specific breakout or news move |
| Visible / none | Long trends; watch for drift |
Match the session to your question
Control names in the terminal can change between releases. If a label differs from this guide, look for the setting that does the job described.
Common CVD mistakes
Comparing today's CVD level with yesterday's as if both started from the same point; each day starts at zero under a daily reset. Compare swings within the day, or use an event anchor that spans both.
Reading CVD from one venue against price from another. Aggression on a smaller venue may not drive the larger venue's price.
Treating a slope change as a signal without checking the book. A falling CVD while price holds may show passive buyers absorbing; whether that leads anywhere depends on what happens when the aggression stops.
Example: an event anchor
Illustrative: a news release at 13:30 UTC triggers a fast move. Anchoring CVD at 13:30 shows net aggression since the event, separate from the morning's activity. With a daily reset, the morning's selling would be mixed into the post-news reading and could hide how strong the post-news buying was.
