Crypto Taker-Buy Volume: Event Time vs Retrieval Time
Taker-buy volume arrives inside klines and in a separate ratio series. Each has its own time stamp and window convention.
Short answer
In Binance klines, taker-buy base and quote volume belong to the kline identified by its open time and ending at its close time; the live kline's taker volume is still growing. The separate takerlongshortRatio endpoint returns buyVol, sellVol and a timestamp per period for the latest 30 days. Align the two by window, not by when you fetched them, and record retrieval time to flag the live kline.

| Time | Present? | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Kline open/close time | Yes | Window |
| Ratio period timestamp | Yes | Period |

Illustrative: a dataset stored the 12:03 partial taker volume as the 12:00 bar's final value, understating buying by nearly half.

Field definitions come from DEX Screener's API reference and CoinGecko's onchain API documentation, read 17 October 2026. Where a schema doesn't document a timestamp, this guide says so and recommends recording retrieval time yourself.
