DEX Price Alert Thresholds: How to Read the Number Before a Swap

Price alerts on DEX tokens fire on pool prices that can wick on single swaps. Thresholds need to account for thin-pool noise.

Short answer

A DEX price alert compares a pool's price (or a token-level price from the most liquid pool) with your threshold. In thin pools, one swap can cross it briefly and then revert via arbitrage, triggering false alerts. Before relying on alerts, set thresholds wider than typical single-swap impact, prefer the deepest pool or a token-level source, and require a sustained cross (e.g. price beyond the level on a closed candle).

Example

Illustrative: a threshold 3% away triggered 23 times in a week on a thin pool from single-swap wicks; on the deepest pool with a closed-candle rule, twice.

Questions readers ask

Why do DEX price alerts fire falsely?

Single swaps wick thin pools.

Which pool should an alert use?

The deepest, or a token-level source.

How do I filter wicks?

Require a closed-candle cross.

Sources and methodology

DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.

  1. CoinGecko API: Token OHLCV — candles from the most liquid pool.
  2. DEX Screener: API reference — token and pair endpoints, nullable fields, rate limits.
