DEX Screener Pair Data: History Limits - Avoid Silent Gaps

DEX Screener's API returns current snapshots, not history. Without your own storage, gaps in your record are silent — nothing tells you what you missed.

Short answer

DEX Screener's documented endpoints return the current state of pairs, tokens and profiles; the reference reviewed has no historical-snapshot endpoint and no update timestamps. Any history you need must be built by polling and storing with retrieval times, within rate limits (60 requests per minute on several endpoints). Because missed polls leave no trace, log every poll's success or failure so gaps are explicit, and don't interpolate rolling-window fields across gaps.

Illustrative: a liquidity series looked smooth because failed polls were silently skipped; logging poll status revealed a 40-minute gap during the pool's biggest withdrawal.

What limits polling?

Rate limits such as 60 requests per minute.

Sources and methodology

Field definitions come from DEX Screener's API reference and CoinGecko's onchain API documentation, read 17 October 2026. Where a schema doesn't document a timestamp, this guide says so and recommends recording retrieval time yourself.

  1. DEX Screener API reference — no update or retrieval timestamp in documented schemas; 60 requests/min on several endpoints.
