DEX Screener Search Results: History Limits - Avoid Silent Gaps

Search results reflect the moment of the query. Without stored results, you can't reconstruct what a search returned yesterday — or notice that a token vanished from it.

Short answer

DEX Screener search returns matching pairs at query time; there's no history, and results change with volume, liquidity and new listings. If you track a token via search, store the query, retrieval time and full result list, match by pairAddress across runs and log empty or failed responses distinctly. An empty response can mean no matches, a rate limit or an error — record which.

Where silent gaps come from

  • Empty responses not distinguished from errors
  • Matching by rank instead of address
  • Stale result lists reused
  • Queries changed between runs

Illustrative: a monitoring script reported a token 'gone' after a rate-limited empty response. Logging the error would have prevented the false alert.

Sources and methodology

Limits come from DEX Screener's API reference, CoinGecko's onchain API documentation and Binance's Spot API documentation, read 17 October 2026. Where a limit isn't documented, this guide says so. Examples are illustrative.

  1. DEX Screener API reference — current-state endpoints; 60 requests/min on several; no history endpoint in the reference reviewed.
