Fisher Transform in Crypto: Why the Value Changes Before Candle Close

The Fisher Transform stretches normalised price near its extremes. When the live price nears the recent high or low, the value can spike.

Short answer

The Fisher Transform normalises price to roughly −1…+1 within a recent high-low range, then applies 0.5 × ln((1 + x) ÷ (1 − x)), usually with smoothing. As x approaches ±1 the transform grows sharply, so a live price near the recent extreme can produce a large spike that falls back if price retreats. Crossovers of the Fisher line and its trigger (the prior value) flip often intrabar. Use closed bars.

Worked: x = 0.5 gives 0.55; x = 0.9 gives 1.47; x = 0.99 gives 2.65 — small changes near the extreme move it a lot.
