How to Find a Solana Token by Mint Address, Not Ticker
On Solana, a token is identified by its mint address. Tickers and names are labels anyone can copy.
Short answer
Find a Solana token by its mint address, the account that defines the token (Solana's documentation describes mint accounts holding supply, decimals, mint authority and freeze authority). Get the mint address from the project's official channels, paste it into a block explorer to confirm supply, decimals and authorities, then search that address on DEX tools to find its pools. Never rely on the ticker: many tokens share names and symbols.
What a mint account holds
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Supply | Total tokens minted |
| Decimals | Divisibility |
| Mint authority | Who can mint more (if any) |
| Freeze authority | Who can freeze token accounts (if any) |

Decimals and display
Solana tokens define decimals in the mint. A wallet or tool that applies decimals incorrectly will show balances or supply off by powers of ten. When supply numbers look strange, compare raw supply and decimals on the explorer.
Some tokens also have metadata (name, symbol, logo) set separately from the mint. Matching metadata proves nothing; matching mint address does.
Example: two tokens, one name
Illustrative: searching a popular name returns two tokens with identical logos. One mint has fixed supply, revoked mint and freeze authority and pools with $3M liquidity. The other was created yesterday, keeps both authorities and has a single $8,000 pool. Only the mint address, checked against the project's official channel, tells you which is real.
Save the verified mint address in your notes and in your wallet's watchlist, and use it every time instead of searching by name again.
Impostors
Impostor tokens copy names, symbols and logos. Only the mint address is unique. See Solana Mint and Freeze Authority: What to Check Before a Swap and DEX Screener Search: Token Address vs Pair Address Explained.

Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
- Solana: Assets on Solana (tokens) — mint accounts, supply, decimals, mint and freeze authority.
- DEX Screener: Token listing — listing after first liquidity and trade; supply inputs.
