Pool Trading Activity Windows: How to Read the Number Before a Swap

DEX data reports activity over rolling windows such as 5 minutes, 1 hour and 24 hours. Comparing windows shows whether activity is building or fading.

Short answer

DEX Screener (m5, h1, h6, h24) and CoinGecko (m5, m15, m30, h1, h6, h24) report transactions, volume and price change per rolling window, each ending at the time of the response. Comparing windows on a per-hour basis shows acceleration: h1 volume far above h24 ÷ 24 means activity is concentrated in the last hour. Before a swap, normalise windows to the same unit of time and record when you read them.

Sources and methodology

DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.

  1. DEX Screener: API reference — token and pair endpoints, nullable fields, rate limits.
  2. CoinGecko API: New pools by network — m5–h24 transactions with buys, sells, buyers, sellers.
