Price-Channel Mean Reversion Backtest in Crypto: Fees, Slippage and Break-Even Costs

Fading touches of a price channel's edges works in ranges and fails in breakouts. The channel's look-back and the exit rule decide which dominates.

Short answer

A price-channel mean-reversion rule fades touches of an N-bar high/low channel (or a regression channel), exiting at the middle, with a stop beyond the edge. When the channel uses the prior N completed bars, signals are clean; if it includes the live bar, touches are guaranteed and meaningless. Test N, require a close back inside before entry, compute break-even cost and report losses on breakout days separately.
