Accumulation Distribution Line in Crypto: Why the Value Changes Before Candle Close

The Accumulation/Distribution line adds volume weighted by where the close sits in the bar's range. The live bar's contribution can swing from fully positive to fully negative.

Short answer

A/D = previous A/D + money flow multiplier × volume, where the multiplier = ((close − low) − (high − close)) ÷ (high − low), from −1 to +1. On the live bar, the close's position in the range changes and the range widens, so the multiplier swings while volume grows. A heavy live bar can move A/D sharply in either direction before settling. Divergences should be judged on closed values.

Cumulative lineYesLast step provisional

A/D ignores the change from the prior close, so a bar that gaps up but closes near its low adds negative money flow.
