ChartsPod Bar Replay: Practice Without Seeing Future Candles
Bar replay hides the future so you can practise decisions. It only works if nothing else on your screen leaks the outcome.
Short answer
Use ChartsPod's bar replay by choosing a start point you have not studied, hiding or ignoring panels that show live data, writing a decision before each step forward, and logging every decision with its outcome. Replay the same window on a fixed interval and record settings so a session can be repeated. Practise both entries and decisions not to trade. The aim is a record of judgement under uncertainty, not a high score.
Where the future leaks in
A replay routine
| Log field | Example |
|---|---|
| Time (UTC) | bar timestamp |
| Decision | enter / wait / exit |
| Reason | level, flow, funding |
| Invalidation | price or condition |
| Outcome after N bars | filled in later |
Control names in the terminal can change between releases. If a label differs from this guide, look for the setting that does the job described.
Measuring improvement
Count three things over many replay sessions: how often you entered, how often the setup worked, and how often you respected your invalidation. Improvement often shows first in the third number.
Repeat a few windows after a month without looking at your old notes. Comparing decisions on the same window shows whether your process changed or only your results.
Example log entry
Illustrative: 'Replay 2026-03-14, BTCUSDT perp 15m. 09:45 bar: price at prior day low, footprint shows absorption, funding negative. Plan: long on close above 09:45 high, invalidation below low. Decision: enter at 10:00 open.' Outcome added after stepping forward: 'Invalidated at 11:15; absorption failed after second test.'
Review
After ten sessions, count decisions by type and outcome. Look for patterns in mistakes, not just wins. Move promising rules into the backtester (see ChartsPod Backtesting: Set Fees and Slippage Before Comparing Results) and record theses in the journal (see How to Record a Trade Thesis and Invalidation in ChartsPod).
Start a replay session on a past BTC window.
Open BTC/USDT in ChartsPodReplay unfamiliar windows with live panels hidden, write each decision before stepping, and review the log.

Sources and methodology
ChartsPod capabilities were checked against its public overview, documentation index, markets and indicator pages on 17 October 2026. Exact control names inside the terminal can change between releases, so this guide describes what to set and check rather than quoting menu labels. Venue availability is shown per tool in the terminal. Worked examples use illustrative numbers.
