Crypto Charting Without Exchange Trading Access: What You Can Do

You do not need an exchange account to do serious crypto analysis. Public market data supports charting, order flow, derivatives research, backtests and a journal.

Short answer

Without exchange trading access you can still chart any supported market, read order flow and the order book, track funding, open interest and liquidations, study options, screen markets, backtest rules, plan position size and keep a journal, because exchanges publish this market data publicly. ChartsPod is built this way: it places no orders, needs no account to chart and uses public data from Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid. What you cannot do is execute, see your own fills or check your account's margin.

What public market data includes

Exchanges publish market data openly. Binance's USD-M futures market-data API, for example, covers trades, order-book depth, funding rates and open interest without any account. That is enough to rebuild most of what a trading terminal displays.

  5. Record: thesis and invalidation in the journal (see How to Record a Trade Thesis and Invalidation in ChartsPod).
  6. Review: replay or backtest the idea (see ChartsPod Bar Replay: Practice Without Seeing Future Candles).

Who works this way

  • Learners practising reading flow before risking money.
  • Analysts and writers producing research without trading.
  • Traders on restricted venues researching markets they cannot trade directly.
  • Traders who separate research from execution for discipline or security.

Researching a market is not permission to trade it. Check what is legal and available in your jurisdiction before acting on research.

Limits to keep in mind

Without an account you cannot see your liquidation price, which on Bybit, for example, depends on mark price and margin mode. Research-only position sizing is a plan, not a guarantee of how the exchange will treat a position. See ChartsPod BTCUSDT Charts: Confirm Binance Spot or USD-M Before Analysis for confirming market type.

Use public data for the full research loop, and treat execution and account-level risk as a separate step done on the exchange.

Sources and methodology

ChartsPod capabilities were checked against ChartsPod's public pages (home, docs, markets and indicators) on 17 October 2026. Third-party facts come only from the official sources listed.
