DEX Trending Scores: How to Read the Number Before a Swap
DEX Screener's trending ranking combines several inputs, including market activity, engagement and boosts. A high rank is not a quality score.
Short answer
DEX Screener describes its trending ranking as using multiple inputs, including market activity, community engagement and paid boosts. So a token can rank high because of volume (which can be inflated), attention or purchased visibility. Before a swap, check why it's trending: liquidity, unique makers, whether boosts are active, and token age. Trending reflects attention now; it says nothing about safety or value.
What the number means
| Reading | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| High rank + high liquidity | Active, tradeable |
| High rank + low liquidity | Attention exceeds depth |
| Boosts active | Paid visibility contributes |
| Very new token | Little history |

Example
Illustrative: a token ranks #3 trending with $40,000 liquidity and active boosts; a $5,000 swap would move its price by over 10%.

Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
