GeckoTerminal Pool OHLCV: History Limits - Avoid Silent Gaps

CoinGecko's pool OHLCV returns at most 1,000 candles and a 6-month range per call. Long histories need pagination — and empty intervals are skipped unless you ask.

Short answer

The pool OHLCV endpoint returns up to 1,000 candles per call (default 100) and covers at most a 6-month range per call; use before_timestamp to page back. History depth depends on plan (6 months on Basic; from September 2021 on higher plans, depending on when tracking began). Intervals without swaps are skipped by default, so a missing candle can mean 'no trades' — or a gap in your pagination. Set include_empty_intervals=true to make quiet intervals explicit.

Where silent gaps come from

  • Default limit of 100 treated as full history
  • Overlapping or missing pages
  • Skipped intervals read as data gaps (or vice versa)
  • Plan history limit reached silently
