Order Flow on a Breakout Retest in Crypto: What Price Response Adds to the Reading

When price returns to a broken range edge, order flow at the retest shows whether former resistance has become support.

Short answer

At a breakout retest, check whether selling into the old edge is absorbed (bids refill, delta negative but price holds), whether liquidity sits at the level, and whether OI holds. A held retest with absorbed selling supports the breakout; heavy selling with bids pulled and price closing back inside suggests failure. Define the retest window and 'hold' precisely.

Measuring the response

Record delta, book refills and OI during the retest; classify outcomes over many retests. Compare held retests with failed ones.
