Session-Profile Volume Nodes in Crypto: What Price Response Adds to the Reading
Within a session profile, high-volume nodes are prices where trading concentrated and low-volume nodes are prices price moved through quickly. Response at each differs.
Short answer
High-volume nodes (HVNs) in a completed session profile tend to slow price, while low-volume nodes (LVNs) tend to be crossed quickly. Test it: when price revisits a prior session's HVN, measure time spent and reversal rate; at an LVN, measure traverse speed. Fix the session definition and row size, and compare with random levels.
Possible price responses
| Price response | Reading |
|---|---|
| Price slows at HVN | Acceptance area |
| Fast through LVN | Rejection area |
| Reverses at LVN edge | Boundary |
| No difference vs random | Nodes not informative |
Measuring the response
Identify HVNs and LVNs from completed sessions with a fixed rule (e.g. top/bottom 10% of rows), then measure revisits.
Example
Illustrative: revisits to prior-session HVNs lasted 38 minutes on average versus 7 at LVNs. Random levels sat in between.
