CVD Divergence at a Range Low in Crypto: How to Check the Raw Trades and Data Coverage
A higher CVD low at a lower price low suggests selling exhaustion. Check that both lows are in the same anchor period and that no trades are missing.
Short answer
At a range low, a CVD divergence compares cumulative delta at two price lows. Before acting on it, confirm both lows sit within one CVD anchor period, no feed gaps occur between them, the venue is the same as the price chart, and liquidations at the second low (forced sells) are accounted for. Inspect raw trades at each low to see size and side.
Check the raw trades
| Check | What to look at | What it rules out |
|---|---|---|
| Same anchor period | No reset between lows | Reset artefact |
| No gaps | Continuity between lows | Missing delta |
| Liquidations | At second low | Forced flow |
| Raw trades | At each low | Composition |
Data explanations before market explanations
- CVD reset between the lows
- Gap removing selling
- Liquidation fills on another venue
- Different venue from price
Example
Illustrative: the divergence spanned a 00:00 UTC CVD reset; on a continuous CVD, the second low had more selling, not less.
