DEX Pool Volume Aggregation: How to Read the Number Before a Swap
A token's 24h volume can be one pool's or the sum of all its pools. Which one you see changes liquidity ratios and comparisons.
Short answer
Token pages may show volume for a single pair or aggregated across pools and DEXes. DEX Screener reports volume per pair; token-level figures elsewhere may sum pools, possibly including wash-traded or tiny pools. Before a swap, check whether volume is pair-level or aggregated, which pools contribute, and compare each pool's volume with its own liquidity.
What the number means
| Reading | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| Pair volume | One pool |
| Token volume | Sum of pools |
| Includes thin pools | Can inflate |
| Cross-chain sum | Different markets |

Example
Illustrative: a token shows $2.86M volume, but $1.9M comes from a pool with $40k liquidity and few wallets. The main pool's $820k is the relevant figure.

Try it in ChartsPodQuestions readers ask
Is token volume per pool or total?
Depends on the source; check.
Why does it matter?
Thin or wash-traded pools inflate totals.
What should I compare?
Each pool's volume with its liquidity.
Sources and methodology
DEX Screener behaviour comes from its official documentation; pool and token concepts from CoinGecko, Uniswap, Raydium and Solana documentation, as read on 17 October 2026. Examples use illustrative numbers and do not refer to any real token. Nothing here is a recommendation to trade any token.
- DEX Screener: API reference — token and pair endpoints, nullable fields, rate limits.
- CoinGecko onchain API: Top pools by token address (pool schema) — pool fields and nullability (fdv_usd, market_cap_usd, reserve_in_usd).
