Solana Token Mint Data: Event Time vs Retrieval Time

Solana account reads return data as of a slot and a commitment level. Mint authority, supply and extensions can change between reads.

Short answer

Reading a Solana mint account via RPC returns its data with a context slot; the commitment level (processed, confirmed, finalized) decides how settled that state is. Supply can change if a mint authority exists, and authorities can be revoked or reassigned. Store the slot, commitment and your retrieval time with every read, and re-read before acting on authority or supply checks.

Illustrative: a token checker showed 'mint authority active' from a cached read; a transaction 40 slots later had revoked it. Recording the slot made the staleness visible.

Sources and methodology

Field definitions come from DEX Screener's API reference and CoinGecko's onchain API documentation, read 17 October 2026. Where a schema doesn't document a timestamp, this guide says so and recommends recording retrieval time yourself.

  1. Solana RPC: getAccountInfo — context slot and commitment level.
  2. Solana: Assets on Solana (tokens) — mint accounts, supply, decimals, mint and freeze authority.
